Door Panel Cap
The tops of my door panels are fading
the black piece at top
could i repaint it... adn with what
or should i just find junkyard ones
and havn't looked yet but do they come off with the door panels or can i take that piece off by itself

I believe it is removable, but I imagine that you would more than likely only find busted up junkyard ones. I think hawksthiregen makes reproductions.

Yes, you can remove them once you take the door panel off. You might be able to find one from the junkyard or from a parts car. I have a couple spares that a friend gave to me from cars he was parting out.
The biggest problem with them is that they crack from sun exposure and from people using gorilla hands on them while trying to get the dor panels off. If yours are just faded, I would remove it, clean it thoriughly with a degreaser, and then spray it with some quality dye or plastic paint.

I bought an '82 TA parts car that still had those peices in it. They were practically gray due to fading. I sprayed them with 'armour all' and let them thoroughlly soak. Amazingly they came riight back to life.
