4th gen interior swap/LT1 swap

I didn't know weather to put this here or in the engine swap area...

I am doing the LT1 swap on my 3rd gen. I know I need to do some custom wiring to make the LT1 work with my factory setup. My question is, If I were to get the dash insterments etc out of the 4th gen to put in my 3rd gen car, would that make my wiring any different?

if you are dropping LT1, just use the harness with the LT1 and it would be easy no cutting wires just plug in the gauge cluster, head lights etc. Some things will still not work unless your car came with it like airbags, etc.

someone sent me a message saying that it would be more work to get that to work, than just using the 3rd gen dash and the LT1. How is that possible? I'm no mechanic, so I am curious. because I need to get it done soon, and was hoping doing the dash swap would save me some headachs, then I would worry about the console later, like over the winter.

i put a 2000 camaro dash in my car its not that hard. and i think its easier for the lt1 u dont need to cut and splice wires. just need to rig up the hot/cold cable for heater.

cool, I don't have AC anymore so that won't be a huge thing to get done right away.

So what your saying is... It would most likely save me time in dealing with the wiring?

I've done the LT1 swap and the Dash swap. I would treat them as 2 separate projects and wire them separately. I've shortened the LT1 interior harness a lot, mainly because I have ALL of the wires coming through the firewall on the drivers side, not on the drivers side AND the passenger side like on stock 4th gen cars. It all depends on how you run the wires through. I'm considering relocating the pcm to inside the car, behind the dash also, but that would mean adding about 4 feet of wire to 75 wires.

Would the steering column bolt up the same way

Because the 4th gens hadracapinions and the 3rd gens had steering gears
