A good carpet dye.
A good carpet dye.
Hi,
The carpet in mine is in pretty good shape, but it's just started to fade pretty bad.
I would like to try and dye it, and make it look new again.
What is a good quality dye to use? I'm looking for a dark blue dye, and just don't know where to get it.
I've tried the duplicolor spray dye before, and I just didn't think it really lasted all that long. Seemed to wear off pretty quick, so was hoping there was something else that others have had pretty good luck with. That's doesn't cost a fortune.
Thanks
Chris.

The spray bomb dyes seemed pretty promising, I haven't used one yet... Did it rub off from wear?
Do you have a compressor to spray a dye in? You might have to steam clean it really well first, then use a dye that's not in a spray bomb... Usually a better quality...
I'm surprised no one knows more about this here
, guess everyone just buys new carpet?

I tryed to dye my carpet (red to black), but for some reason it just wouldnt soak up the dye, so I went to walmart and bought replacement carpet.
something like $8 for a roll, I got 2 of them and redid from the pedals to about the middle of the backseats. It was fairly easy and pretty fun. I also painted the door panels, arm rests, plastic parts.
Here is the original interior when I bought the car, and what I have done so far. Still need to do the kickpanels, paint the vents and some other minor things.

I am buying more carpet soon and doing the hatch area aswell.
