Tightening Up Power Lock Solenoids
I tried searching and found nothing on this.
It seems as if there's alot of play in the rod assembly that connects the solenoids to the lock itself. Mine will unlock if I hit it twice, but I'm lucky if they'll ever lock on power alone, I have to flip it manually. I'd like to step out and hit my alarm button and know that my alarm is armed AND my doors are locked.
I've tried greasing them to no avail. So I washed the grease out and used 3 in 1 oil. Helped slightly, but no cigar. Finally, I tried plain old WD-40. No change. After inspection while having my girlfriend lock/unlock the doors repeatedly, I realized friction is not the problem, and the actuators themselves work fine, and have a broad range of motion. It's the huge amount of unwanted play in the assembly that wastes most of the movement of the solenoid.
I was wondering if anyone here has figured out a way to solve this problem. If there was a way to keep the rods aligned throughout movement, I think they would work flawlessly. If no one has tried anything I'll try out a few things when I have my door panel off next (I need to adjust my window, it'll be soon) and take some pictures to better explain what I'm talking about. Maybe we can get something done about it if we're creative.

I also have the same problems. I can hit the lock button 20 times and it still doesn't completely lock the door. And my windows are getting slow too. I replaced the passenger window motor about 6 or 7 years back and its slower than the original drivers side.
