help! my hatch wont close haha
Ok, its either one of the little motors on my 90 camaro's hatchback is dead or something or a fuse is bad.... but my hatch wont close at all! It doesnt catch like it usually does when u gently press it down to latch. Ordering a new system and messing w/ the electronical bitch is my last resort cause all i want is to close the damn thing so my battery doesnt die and so i dont have to worry about it going up when im going down the road. Has anyone else had this problem and gotten their hatch closed some way manually? I've tryed to just lock it in place but the thing wont catch at all. I'm sure this has happened to someone out there in the past tho
thanks

sounds like your reverse switch has gone bad. you can get one from the Junk yard or pick up one from TDS. The motors are easy to overhaul. the only way that you'll be ablet o put it down manually if the reverse switch is bad is to remove the bad switch and send 12v to the terminal to lower the latch(this is assuming that the motor itself isn't bad). this way you can just get it where you need it until you get a new switch or whole assembly. my buddies went bad once and he didn't want to mess with these motors again because they go bad so often that he asked me to weld it in place. that ended up working great too.
Try disconnecting your battery for 30 seconds.
Last week, my hatch switch stopped working. So, I had to open it with a key. Then it wouldn't shut either. I found a schematic and tested the wires and it looked like the hatch unit died. I pulled off the connectors to the hatch unit to test the wires and when i put the connectors back on, the hatch motor started to go up. It just needed a reset. And now the switch works again. My guess is it got too hot because it was 100+ degrees outside that day.

my hatch did something like this to me once also
after two hours of playing with it i could get no change, so i left it. my battery ended up dying, and when i charged it back up and started the car, i walked back and shut it like nothing had happened
it was strange
