Seats don't lock
Both driver and passenger seats simply fold down and don't lock into position when passengers are entering rear seats. The tab on both seats in the rear seem to be working but seats don't lock in selected position. No real concern when sitting in seat but someone tell me there is an easy fix or is it just to common!

pretty common. both of my cars do this.
im assuming you mean that you dont have to push down a button to get them to fold down?

My bad, I guess that recall was only on the camaro? I searched for the same recall under Pontiac and it was not listed. The issue sounds very similar, I would be curious to see if the camaro fix would work on the Pontiac.

i believe the latch is only to release the seat if your parked at an angle like on an incline. Mine fold forward without the switch except when i'm on an incline in which case i have to use the switch. When i hit the brakes hard the seat doesn't go all the way forward it goes up enough to hit the lock and thats it.

Thanks for the info guys! I would appreciate any info if anyone has attempted to repair this problem and the results that they had. I'm hoping it is just a matter of replacing screws as mentioned in the recall and not something that is extremely labour intensive. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. I would like to fix this small problem as I want to keep the originality of the vehicle!
Thanks
Paul

in alot of older vehicles the seats only lock in vertical position and no other
way it was back in the 70s and 80s in most vehicles
instead of being able to lock in more than just the vertical position
i thought about it and it sounds like you are saying they dont lock donw when they are folded forward
why would they need to be ?
none do that ive ever seen
in any type of vehicle
i assumed that you mean that they dont lock in vertical position, which is common, and some dont from factory especially in alot of the trucks
just trying to help
good luck

i have the same thing going on, they don't lock into vertical position, and can be pushed forward with no effort
but there is a lever on the rear of the seat to "unlock" the seat and fold it forward
there wouldn't be a lever there if it didn't have a function.
