Painted needles and swapped cluster i have ?'s

ok, so i swapped clusters from an 85 mph to the ever popular 145 mph, i thought it would look cool if i painted the needles red with regular touch up paint. well it doesn't look bad.., but now my gas gauge kinds nounces a little and i don't think it's accurate, i had a broken needle for the temp gauge so i swapped 1 from my old cluster and thats off could i have reinstalled that needle in the wrong spot..? and was the paint a good idea or is it reaking havvoc on my gauges, every other gauge is fine... any ideas..?

You have to reinstall them at exact numbers , zero etc. somtimes it takes a few pull ofs to get it right.
