swaping manul door's internal's into power doors
does anyone know if i can take out my power eveything and put in manual from a 89 z28 into my 88 pontaic ta. what is it all that i have to do to make it work if it works thanks alot
I have done this swap on my Formula.
TO swap to Manual Windows, all you need to do is to swap in Manual Window Regulators, and cut a small hole (or X like I did) for the window crank mount. There are 2 sets of holes in all thirdgen doors for manual or power regulators. Just use the 3 holes that the power regulator was not rivited to.
For the power locks, I just removed the solenoid, switch (which I replaced with the block off/delete plate) and wiring.
And to make the car look even more like it left the factory with manual windows and locks, I also put the pieces in the doors and door jambs that block the holes for the wiring.

I just bolted them in with Nylock nuts and bolts form the hardware store. it as less than $1.00 for all the hardware. And it took me and my buddy 15-20 minutes per door to swap them over.
Any other Q's feel free to PM or E-Mail me

My Formula is basically a hot rod & autocross car, so my idea is, it doesn't need no stinkin' amenities
Plus manual windows are more reliable than power, I know if I need to I am going to be able to put the window up, I also swapped to a manual trunk latch assembly, no worry about the pull down failing for me.
My Daily Driver Camaro on the other hand, I am adding any and all options it did not originally have.

I've looked at auto parts stores, Home Depot, etc. and can't come up with anything that fits (and doesn't look ghetto).
Where did you find the plastic/rubber plugs for the holes in the door & door jambs? I have doors which were originally power (and now converted to manual). I can't find a plug to fit the giant hole in the door (at the front of the doorjamb).

I was so glad, when i saw my IROC had manual windows. If owned several thirdgens, other cars as well, with power widows. All those power options are great, till something goes wrong.

Jeez, I'm an idiot. I just assumed that the manual window/lock cars didn't have holes. It makes sense that they made them all the same and just plugged the non-power ones. I, of course, threw my original non-power doors in the dumpster at work long ago. I'm sure they had the plugs and I just never noticed. Thanks for the heads-up.
