Remove AC/Heater dash control?

Hello,
How do you remove the heater control valve in the dash of a '92 Z/28? I have the three bolts on the sides removed but I can't get the cable off for the temperature selection and one of the vacuum lines.

Thanks,
Jeff

That cable is a PITA - there is a screw under the unit that holds a plastic clip that is part of that cable (like a plastic holder that is screwed into the control). You have to find a way to get in there (I removed stereo) to take that screw out (it's a phillips head). Then you can push down on the cable, in order to get the geometry to work the end off that tab that the cable end is on. Once you get that, there should just barely be enough vacuum line to pull the unit out far enough to unplug the vacuum switch and the electrical connectors.

I never thought of it until now, but it may be easier to go under the passenger dash and disconnect the selector cable from the vent box - I don't know - but it's a thought.

OH - I also had the console top out completely - this gave me more work room.

Good Luck!

I got the vacuum switch and all the electronic connections off. I don't remember seeing any (more) phillips screws but I'll look again, thanks!

PS. I do have the radio out already...
