my speedometer is very radical on my 1983 trans am..
it has cruise control ..but the cables are bypassed by last owner and is directly conected from speedo too transmission....
could this be problem??

Define "radical".
the hand of speedo bounces around ...up or down 20 mph when on highway

Lubricate the speedometer cable and check it for kinks.
