Hatch not working...

OK, my hatch doesnt do ANYTHING. Turn the key, nothing. its in the "closed" position. ALL my fuses in my box are all good. No buzzing, no osunds. What can it be?

I dont know if it has any effect on it but the little plate that has 3 metal plates on it on both the underisde of the hatch and the interior plastic (right beside the latch motor) is missing on my hatch itself...will that make a differance???

Are there any relays or such i can check. I know this motors arent cheap. thanks.

mustangs on a thirdgen board? sad. anyway the metal plate on the hatch is i believe a switch, and if it not making contact with the hatch motor plate you could have a problem.

No, no, no. The metal plate 86TA is referring to has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the hatch pull-down motor. It powers the HMSL (high-mount stop light) from 1986-90. In fact if we're referring to his 1992 it won't even have such a contact pad at all since his HMSL is hard wired. First thing to check is that you have +12v at the red with white stripe wire.

Considering its NOT a bad thing to like more than one car...yeah.

Anyways, thats what I thought. I figured thats why my 3rd lamp doesnt work.

This is on my 89....I sold the 92 LONG ago.

So if it is getting 12v to the motor, does that mean the motor is bad or is there a relay? thanks.

it could just as easily be a bad switch inside the mechanism as the motor.
