REALLY STICKY GLUE FOR HEADLINER

My clips are broken and so is the pad and i need a very sticky glue to hold it up, i tried double sided velcro but it didnt hold.

The original owner got this nice pad stuff for the top that makes it look really vool but it needs to be glued since he broke the pad, its all rotted away antwho.

Glue is not going to help. The headliner/pad needs to be replaced.

Once that headliner starts to sag, no amount of glue is going to keep it up.

Material or backing board is hanging down? If the problem is the material… the proper way is to remove the board, sand or brush the left over foam off, apply some 3M headliner adhesive, then recover. If the board is messed up... remove epoxy the breaks and reinstall. I wouldn’t do it but get good enough epoxy and glue it to the clips… I guess. You should be able to get whatever clips that are broken from a junkyard.

Yes, and I have a black fabric covered head liner board if ya need to replace the board. Pretty good shape one seatbelt rear is broken, If I remember correctly. No big deal just reinforce it by wrapping it with duct tape. No one will ever know it's there. It sags and will need recovered but it's really not bad. $25 plus shipping and its yours. I don't know what they sell for so someone speak up on the price good or bad.
Oh, if you just glue yours back, The glue will probably show through the fabric, thats why you need new foam backed fabric.

Check out your local car upholstery shops for replacement. The cost will be less then going on-line and paying shipping for that odd sized part. Also you will get a factory stock look if you care.

Go to 1A Auto Parts: High Quality Aftermarket Car Parts and Truck Parts they are right in Pepperell, MA and they sell the abs headliner. A buddy of mine put one in his hard top last year and it fit perfect.

depending on your skills you can make one out of sheet of subflooring. Use the type with no voids, it will not be cheap about $25 for a pice 4'x8', them buy the fabrick you want and 3m headliner spray and go to town--the hardest what is this one, but this is how I do it
you will need to know how to sew
later

my only thing to add to this thread is not to bother with 3m "super 77". Mine started falling off in 1 month. I still have to go back and fix it, but boy i'm lazy.

my headliner was horrible. it sagged everwhere (its a t-top headliner). What i found to work was gorilla glue. All i did was apply it and let it sit overnight, and held it up there with zip ties around the middle with the t-tops out. Just make sure to have something in between the zip ties and the headliner itself so it doesnt get ripped. U can buy Gorilla glue in lowes or home depot, and ive used it for lots of other things also!

one of my old cars I used fiberglass and resin. (sp?) worked great and I can tell you it was better than those abs plastic boards since it stays firm when you are done. after I did this I realized that just the resin would have worked just fine on the board. 7.00

the fabric stores stock the cloth which runs about 10.00 a yard you would need 1.5 I think. and then go to the parts store for the headliner adhesive spray. around 10.00 as well (give or take depending on your location) so.. for under 40.00 easy you can have a perfect headliner

hte only glue that works (good that is) is either Permatex headliner adhesive or greenweld contact glue this is what I use for convertible tops.
