02 AluminumcVette Brake Pedal in a Camaro

Yes,its a desperate attempt to make my car a little lighter. The vette pedal is 1.4 lbs,F-body is 2.7lbs.Besides this the geometry is pretty much the same.Main difference, vette part is slightly longer & the pedal pad is about 1 3/4 in lower.I will find out this weekend how/if it works out!

I got it installed, but as i suspected the pedal is a little low.Its about level with the gas pedal. So i removed it.I kept wanting to move the seat forward, beacuse my legs felt too short. It did work though & doesnt contact the floor when you mash the brakes. It needs a small plate welded to it so the brakelights are illuminated when you depress the pedal, but thats no biggie. Also the pin the hold the brake booster puh-rod is not included, but i also have the covered.Dont know what Im doing about the lower pedal though?Any suggestions

It looks like its cast, but i dont know if a cast piece would be strong enough for an application like this.I heard the suspension components were drop forged or something like that.Im guessing this is a similar item? Why do you ask?

well, if it's forged, then you should be able to have it cut, shortened, then welded back together. you'd have a pretty trick piece then.... if it's cast, welding would be no fun at all on it...

So this has been on my mind for the last hour and 45mins.....
Is that a brand new pedal you have, or a used one from a JY? If new, do you have the part number? I don't know why, but I have this sudden and overwhelming urge to make my car lose exactly 1.3lbs......

Not that Im doubting you, but maybe these things are painted & they just look like a run of the mill pedal.I mean did you ever put a magnet or something to check what they were made of?Just trying to get as much information as possible.

the one's that were on ebay were a grayish tan color and the tops of them where they connected and mounted were painted black. i have no doubt that they probably had steel pedals also, but the Al ones are going for CHEAP on ebay.......
