Special Door Switch ???

Hey Guys,

I've got a question for ya'll. I've got the digital dash in my '88 GTA and
my system monitor in the center of the panel that monitors lights, doors,
trunk etc. always shows my right side door is open when it is obviously
not. I've been told that the door switches located on the inside of the
door jamb are "specific" to each side. Needless to say,the dealer no
longer carries these switches. The guy at the dealer told me he thinks
certain Cadillacs were equipped with these switches also. Again, they
aren't available. Does anyone know if these switches are still made
or if there is a suitable substitute?

Hey Moe, no wonder the water don't work -
These pipes is clogged up with wires !!

You need to see if your passenger side door has a one circuit (one wire) or two circuit switch. I'd check to see if your switch is really bad, or if you have a bad wiring connection and/or ground. You should be able to pick up a switch from an ACDelco parts warehouse, your dealer, or gmpartsdirect.

ACDelco Part #D6030 (GM #20589218) - Passenger side door jam switch, one circuit (one wire connecting to it).

ACDelco Part #D6063 (GM #25603977) - Driver/passenger side door jam switch, two circuit (two wires connecting to it).

If those don't work...check out FORD, I had a 1993 Lincoln mark 8 with the same problem...I know that they still carry those switches and I even think that the Ford types are not door specific.
