hooking up power 4th gen seats

hooking up power 4th gen seats

hey guys, i got a set of power seats from a 95 z28 and i need to know how i can hook up power to them in my 89 trans am (didnt come with power seats from factory).. im not really too knowledgable with this kinda stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

All you will have to do is hook up a power and ground wire. There should be 2 wires coming out of the power seat track or a connector. I think orange and black. Take that black wire and just ground it to the chassis. On my gf's RS i used 1 of the 4 studs that the seat track mounts to. For the power i ran a wire under the carpet to the fuseblock and used a empty non-switched ignition port. That way there is always power to the seat if you choose to move it with key out of the ignition. You could use a switched ignition it doesnt really matter whichever you perfer. Also added a 15amp inline fuse.

Thats all there is to it really, good luck.
