Lost Keys - Where to get replacements?

My keys and my spares have been missing forever. I have no clue how its possible to lose both. -Sigh-

How do I go about getting replacements? Can I call Pontiac or go to a dealership or what?

Thanks for your help!
Bill

The dealer can cut you new keys from your VIN as long as the ignition hasn't been changed at some time over the car's life.

If that doesn't work you'll need to have the ignition removed and either have the tumblers changed to match, or install a whole new ignition with new keys.

Jim,

Thanks! I had them make me a replacement set once from my originals, it cost almost $50! Freakin VATS!

I wonder if they'll tack on an extra charge for having to look it up in the computer.

Sincerely,
Bill

Unless GM discarded older VIN info (not likely), they're just lazy. I had a key made for my 86 from the VIN.

If you call a locksmith they can decode your ignition and cut you a new key.

I had no keys for my 87 because it was a stolen recovery. I just swapped out the ignition so I could start it, but I still don't have a door key. Can I go to the dealer with the VIN and have them make me a new door key? Luckily, VATS wasn't around yet, so I could at least make it run. Thanks
