shoulder strap stuck!!

shoulder strap stuck!!

my seat belt shoulder strap got pulled all the way out, how do i make it retract?

It's a fun job..did mine last weekend..need to take the headliner off so you can see the retractor ( you don't need to unbolt that); then pull off the plastic cover on the side of the retractor. It's the flattish funny-shaped one, probably white, NOT the round one!! The round one has the spring under it. Exposed now is a wire pin like a record player; lift that up out of the track and the belt should go in. Can let the needle drop and it will seat itself, and put things back together....BUT! If you are like me you might decide then to vacuum your car, and in doing so, pull the belt all the way out again, and end up back where you started. So if it ever stops raining I'm going to do what someone else on here did and just take the pin out. It's not what stops the belt paying out in an accident so it should be safe to do.
