Removing Dash Vents: Firebirds

Quick question, what is the easiest way to remove the side vents on the firebird dash without damaging the vents or the dash?
I am talking about the vents on the far corners, next to the headlight switch and dash pouch.
I want to install my Delete plates, and not destroy the stock vents.

Re: Removing Dash Vents: Firebirds

really, the only way is to detatch the entire dash assembly from the firewall. it's a pretty big job. There are two screws holding the vents into the dash and they are also slid into a larger plastic duct that's screwed into the dash shell. I messed with them inside the car and wish I had just disconnected all the wiring at the bulkhead and ecm and taken the entire dash out of the car.

There are 2 small pins holding them in place, one on top and one on the bottom. The easiest way I've found is to take a very thin flathead and slide it into the top and pop them out. make sure to pull the whole vent out evenly or the fins couls twist adn break or pop out of place. That's all it took to get them out of my 87 camaro.

On the 1LE and non-AC equipped cars, there were no vents on the far corners, just blank plates that covered the hole.
