rear carpeting

some third gens came with carpeted rear cargo panels and some came with bare plastic panels. anybody know if this was an option or which years they were in effect? i really prefer the uncarpeted version....it seems easier to keep clean....my '83 crossfire z-28 came with the carpeting and i want to get rid of it....it's starting to fray and peel.

Re: rear carpeting

It was an option. On my 85 I peeled it all out and then cleaned up the glue residue. Couldn't tell there was carpeting to begin with.

Re: rear carpeting

I have it in my 84 and I just replaced the old faded blue carpet with silver and re dyed the plastic in the entire rear section, not that hard of a job.

I took the interior out of my car 7 years ago and dont remember exactly where all the parts go and am looking for some pics. If anyone can help by taking photos while doing your work to the rear section of your cars which ever way you decide to go it would be greatly appreciated if you could post some.

thx
