speedo doesnt work

my speedo doesnt work, but everything else on my dash does work so im thinking the cable came undone on the back of my speedo? is this most likely the culprit? i dont want to rip my whole dash apart to find out that that isnt the problem and have to rip it apart again later to put in a new gauge cluster.

Unlikely, since the cable is held in place with a metal clip. Drop the lower kick panel, grab a flashlight, and take a look. Type and year of car, by the way, will determine whether you have a mechanical or electric driven speedo.

Re: speedo doesnt work

so i ripped my dash apart today and pulled out the speedo to find that its electrical and there is no speedo cable(wtf? its an 87, my 95 has a mechanical one...) so everything on my gauge cluster works except the speedo so is that gauge cluster toast or what? if i have to buy a new gauge cluster what do you expect it will cost? in canadian dollar if possible
