steering wheel issue

some explaining here:
the steering wheel isnt locked in place ( refering to the tilt function )
no matter what position i place the steering wheel into i can lift it upwards and it literally "jiggles".
when i am driving its fine due to where my hand is normally.
but i feel insecure in the fact its moving sometimes.
almost seems like there is a rivit or pin missing.
i really need some suggestions
( and a steering wheel diagram blowup if possible )
i have a feeling that theres something that may have snapped or broken loose inside the column.
car runs fine, steers fine but that wiggle which is almost a full 1 1/2" lift really is bothering me.

Re: steering wheel issue

There are 4 bolts that usually come loose and cause the wheel to move just below the tilt pivot. very common problem. I don't have my manuals available now but I do know there are threads that cover this pretty well.
for tilt wheel pivot bolts you should be able to find what you need.
