Hey guys,
I am new to this forum and this is my first thread. I want to repair or replace my cigarette lighter socket, but i don't know how to remove the panel that sorrounds it. It seems like I can pull it off as if it is snapped in, but I am scared I am gonna hear snap crackle pop if i pull too hard. I searched online and even looked in the Haynes manual but they only show the removal of the dash that was on till 1990. If anyone has any idea i would be much obliged. Thanks.

 

To replace the cig lighter, you need to remove the gauge trim. I assume that's what you mean. If so, it's easy as sin to remove. First, under the underdash panel on the driver's side, you will find 2 large torx screws. Remove those, and the ones along the bottom of that panel. That will remove the underdash panel. Next, you will see that under that, there were two little hex head screws holding the gauge trim on. remove those. Next, reach up behind the headlight switch and you will feel a little button on it. Push it in, and pull out the **** you pull to turn the lights on (you may hafta juggle it a little.) Then, pull on the gauge trim and the clips holding it will disengage and it will come out. Unplug any wires for any switches you have on it and there you go. Oh, and it may help to lower the tilt wheel a little to make it easier to snake out.
