How can I....
What would be the best way to remove the metal bracket for the rear-view mirror that is attached to the windshield? I'm going to try a razor blade and straight amonia, but I doubt its going to work. Definately don't want to crack the windshield. Any suggestions?

Re: How can I....
On a hot sunny day I just used a razor blade and it popped right off, no chemicals needed. I guess the heat softened the glue enough for it to be removed.
But I can't stress enough -go slow & be careful- It's amazing how brittle that glass can be.

Yeah, I plan on taking my sweet time. The windshield is a new one and I haven't gotten around to taking the bracket off or re-tinting. I'm just worried that since its new the glue will be holding tight to the windshield.

On the advice of a guy who replaces windshields, I used a propane bottle directed at the button for a few seconds at a time. Between times, I twisted gently with pliers. Worked great. Regardless of how you proceed exert caution.
