You might get an occasional gasoline smell upon shutoff, and an unnoticable drop in gas mileage. What makes you think it's going bad?

the canister soaks up all the vapor and fumes fromt eh manifold after the engien is shut off to keep the fumes from escaping in toth eenviroment. it doesn't effect the car at all as far as running and can't even cause a code.
at present the only state that i know is checking post shut down emmissions is the republic of california, those of us here in screw jersey can expect to be victims soon as well.

later

The Hayne's manual is about 95% written for 1982-1986. The newer canisters are not servicable AFAIK.

Another question, if you take it out what about the lines to the gas tank? Aren’t they supposto take out the fumes out of the gas tank? Why does it take it out of the gas tank in the first place, lol one more question would it cause a fire hazard?

thanks
