Total Noob Question... feel free to mock me
Total Noob Question... feel free to mock me
I just bought this car. It's an '86 with an L98 and a T5 (I know this set up is not stock). My speedo works pretty well... a little bouncy... but accurate for the most part. My problem is that the Tripometer and odometer do not function. Is this a bad speedo gauge or something done incorrectly during the tranny swap ( I think it was originally an automatic car)?

thank you for the replies. would replacing it be feasible since it is already bouncing? Is the bouncing a symptom of the whole unit about to go? Are parts available and not insanely expensive?

bouncing like a few mph? if just a bit, you may need to lube the cable. mine does it as well.
highly doubt your speedo has any problems, but they are a dime a dozen on ebay.
i fixed my odometer with .032 safety wire. works like a charm.

if you take out the whole cluster and look at the back of the odometer the person may have tried to set the miles back, if you want a new one just go to hawks third gen parts and get a used one for 100
