Who makes those seat brackets that move the seats back 6"?

I thought I saw somewhere a while back that someone makes some sort of bracket that will move the front seats back 6 more inches but I couldn't find anything with the search. So who makes these? I am almost certain I saw someone who said they bought these for his car but I don't remember who it was.

I looked for them before, gave up, and made my own. And just for info, you dont want 6", thats way too much. I am 6'3" and when I made mine, I started at about 5", and ended up drilling new holes in the brackets to move the seat "forward" a couple inch's, ended up with the seat moved back total about 3", and even then I adjusted the seat itself forward about one notch.

I don't need 6", I just thought I remembered that's how much the bracket moved the seat back. Do you have pictures or steps that you did to make your own?

yeah I got pics and could tell you how to do it, but in hindsight, I would have done it different. I just added a couple pics to last post. You can see my basic design in the pics, very simple design. only problem I ran into is the front two brackets tended to pull up away from floor, and before I fixed the problem the seat bracket itself busted so I had to weld that back together. I ended up putting a rivet through each bracket into the floor pan. But if your pan is rusty that probably wont hold. I had already fabbed a new floor pan so I had good metal to rivet too.

Honestly, my design served its purpose, but if I were to do it again, I would do it different. I think that when I do it to the ta I just got I will do it different. I think I will cut through the carpet and weld studs directly to the floor to prevent the flex my old design allowed. That will allow the seat to be mounted with studs the way it was originally, and since the floor pan droops down as it goes back the seat will also sit lower in the car which will help with line of sight since I am taller. But it would be wise to weld a flat steel plate across the floor pan and then weld the studs to the plate, sort of like is done with roll cages. That will enhance the strength, and prevent the chance of the studs rusting or breaking out like the originals do.

I hope you don't mind my .02 but a power seat rack(3rd gen preferably but 4th gen will work)will giving you added leg room over the manual seat track. Also the ability to lower seat front to rear makes it easy to get confortable,I'm 6'4 and thank fully my '83 has the power driver's seat.

hmmm......I'd like to see the measurements for the two, I've never heard of a difference.

i made a set of brackets that moved my seat back 3", im 6'6", and its just about the perfect setting. my brackets are 1 piece on each side, i just figured it was a bit more stable than 4 little plates.

I am 6'3 and I use powered mustang seats, with stock brackets. As long as I can tilt the lower bottom I am okay.

How did you go about making those? I don't think I like the 4 seperate pieces either.

Re: Who makes those seat brackets that move the seats back 6"?

Like I said the 4 seperate brackets are not a good design, and i would not do it that way again. i was in a rush to make them and only had a couple hours to get everything done before I left for a round trip from here in Michigan to Alabama, I wanted to be comfortable.

If I did it again, without welding I would make two long brackets that would go from the front studs to the rear studs and a bit furthur to move the seat back. With the studs tied together the seat should be pretty solid. but as I said before I think if I do it again I will weld new studs in.
