where did these door sills come from????

i was on ebay and ran across these door sills, they dont have the huge hole in them where the retractor goes, just a hole w a slot to put the seatbelt through. would be great for cars like mine w 4th gen seat belts. i want a pair! what cars did they come in?

Those are 82 only, in 83 GM switched to the dual seat belt retractors. 82 was the only year for the single retractor.

Re: where did these door sills come from????

in my yearone catalog they sell door sills, it says for 85-92. what was the difference from that and 83-84, or is it possibly just a goof?

Re: where did these door sills come from????

I found this doing a search, courtesy of Drew.
"All 82 fbodies lack the seat belt retractors on the door sill. The seat belts, and door sills are unique to 82. 83-up have the retractors and use different door sills. The 82 door sills have an oval slot that the belt goes thru then bolts to the floor, the 83-up door sills have a large notch cut to clear the retractors."

Re: where did these door sills come from????

yeah i have 4th gen seat belts now, and soon will be going w/ a roll bar and simpson harness it would be great to loose the giant retractor box. itd be much cleaner looking, i love stupid details like that, that most 3rd gen owners dont even know sills existed like that.
