steering wheel locking up......

this is "or general interior repair." or i thought it would go here

my steering wheel is really loose going up and down( like 2 inches) and it just started making a clicking noise when i turn, tonight i went to bumbershot (Seattle thing) and it kept actually locking up on me....

is there a way to fix this or do i need a new one, because school starts on wednesday and i kinda need/want to drive it...

It may be a worn out tilt wheel. They tend to wear our on these cars because people use them as something to grab when they get out. As far as I know, you have to replace them.

Do a search on repsiring them. I've fixed 2 of them. It's easy but just takes some time. 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.
