camaro dash and interior buttons
camaro dash and interior buttons
so im new to the american car scene. my last car was an 87 acura integra. it was my dd. and i took care of it, i knew everything about that car, and how to do it. but now comes a new challenge , i just bought an 86 camaro z28. and i have no idea what all the buttons do. the mods i know it has is edolbrock headers and a hurst.
now my question is my car has foglights where would that button be seeing as how i cant find it. also my heater seems to be constantly on but the **** seems to be in the off position what could it be?
another question is my horn doesnt work, and the switch for the door locks doesnt work either.
im sorry if my newbness kinda made this whole thread one whole big question

Your car is an 86 so the fog light button *should* be mounted under the headlight **** to the left of the steering wheel.
When it comes to your Horns and your door locks, There's a very high probablility that the terminals are simply covered in a light corosion and it's not allowing good contact between the wiring and the contacts. If you disconnect the horn wire and clean the terminal on the horn and the connector than your horn will probably work again. The same is true for the door locks.
That's not to say that the previous owner of the car didn't disable these options by cutting wires or something,......... but try cleaning the terminals and the wiring connectors if everything appears to be hooked up correctly.
The Heater - sounds like the blower motor might have been "hard wired" so it has power all the time. Fixing that issue might take more diagnosis than I have time to write about !

correct clean all contacts. its an 86 so the power lock motor might be pretty worn out too. does it do anything? try to click try to move? if by chance your blower motor is hard wired to a constant run, the easiest way to make it a cool option would be find the two wires running it, splice them into wires that run into your center counsel and hook it up to a switch..or make it a hidden switch. you control heat. pretty neat
