Did a 91-92 come with leather seats or was it vinyl (leather look-a-like). I can't find anyone that sells replacement seat covers in leather. If I could even find some nice used seats that would be fine.

 

Yes they had leather my friend has a 3,000 orig mile 91 z with grey leather seat

 

I am looking for some nice tan leather seats. Does anyone know who sells a factory replacement seat cover.

 

go on ebay find a few auctions selling new seat covers to replace the old ones. e-mail them and see if they will make one in tan leather for you. won't be cheap though

 

yes the front surface was leather both the head rest and the backing and sides where of a vinyl the vinyl parts almost never wear but gm used some of the cheapest and thin leather that you almost never see seats in good shape other then low mileage cars
i have grey leather in my 91

the reason they replace them with vinyl is flat out cost no on wants to pay over 1000 for seats for an older car so they make it out of a much cheaper pleather

the problem for aftermarket retailers is they always want max profit
pleather made into a seat cover cost at most 150 in time and materials and you end up paying 650 or more for them plus is they tend to rip and tear like leather dose dont get me wrong they can and will but just not as bad as the factory leather
but for a set of these it mint shape the sell for the same price as the seat covers but normaly what i see happening is that you can get a 4th gen leather for the same or less and you also end up with a much better supporting seat
i saw a set of 4th gen grey leather sell on ebay with only the most minor rip as in smaller then a dime they sold for 150 all 4

but ive seen 3rd gen leather much more rare sell for 200-1000 the seat i showed pics of i paid 200 for

but i have not seen any real leather covers for these ive called some local shops and for real leather done correctly with good leather the price was 1500 for the set
mind you no body seems to sell just a drivers seat cover
but as we all know 90% of the time the passenger seat looks mint
and 99% the rear seats are just about showroom new looking lol

but if you do happen to find a company that sells only the drivers seat post up id love to buy it
