88-89 auto shifter plate

This is the second time I had to replace the shifter plate due to the cracks around the torx screws.

The first time I was still able to get a brand new one from Year One. Now they've been discontinued. Classic industries does'nt carry these and GM obviously does'nt it carry these anymore. Can't get a mint condition from the wrecker yard. Just wondering if there any other sources were I can get a new or at least near mint condition one.

You can combine parts from a few different ones to make one good one, that's what I did. Though I found out there were variations between '88 and '92 and even the new replacements, so now I have a "hybrid" model, lol.

That's what I was considering doing, but how did you take it apart without breaking them? The different pieces are glued together.

Tried it, if you pry with a small screw driver the parts do seperate without breaking, I took a couple of plates & made 1 good one.

Yes, that works well and so does a small pocket knife.

Just make one. I made one out of diamond plate a friend got me from his work. I never have to worry about cracking shifter plates again.
