Today I wired up a stock 84 realese switch to my 1990 harness in my trans am .. this 82 has a 1990 firebird harness in it but has 82 dash) anyways I was marveling after putting dash together and thinking how great it would be again not needing a key to open the trunk ..... so I press the switch and nothing happens so that brought me down rather quikly. and I am at a loss as to why it didnt work.

ugggghhhhh why my car doesnt have it in the trunk .... dont know why but I always thought it did and could have sworn I hooked it up when I put all the 1990 harness in my car.

can someone post pictures of a trunk release setup for a f-body without the electric hatch pulldown thing so I can see what is involved in putting one in this car.

Basically all you need is power to the center console and the safety wire if you wish. You also need the black wire that runs to the hatch pop, the relay and the button, wiring is simple after that.

 

I have all that. I just need to see what and how the thing that pops the trunk is mounted

 

I'll get you a pic tomorrow if you don't get one sooner. It just bolts in horizonal on the hatch lock

in order to pop mine with the button i have to pull the ebrake then hit the button... have you tried this??
