Trace the cruise connector plug at the base of the column.Disconnect it and tie some fishing line or thin gauge speaker wire to it.Make this line long enough to pass back thru the column so you can tie it to the new connector and pull it back down.Other than that follow the instructions in the service manual.

im referring to the actual signal lever that sticks out the side of your column. just pull straight out, it will come out. Then stick the new one in in the same position.

Re: turn signal switch/steering columb instructions?
Hold on a minute....... Are you in need of the switch that's inside the steering coulum? I have a 89 t/a and had to pull off wheel and then the shield first before getting to the switch. Harbour Frieght has a steering wheel puller kit for $23.00 and it comes with a case and a tool to get wheel off and the "U" shape to get the snap ring off to remove the shield. It is a VERY EASY job with the proper tools. Other-wise Murrays has the tools for $40.00 and I'm sure you can just use the "lending" program. But the actual turn signal switch is where I'm talking about. If this isn't what you mean, then sorry for the miss-info.

Re: turn signal switch/steering columb instructions?
Bobby, there are instructions on this site that will help you replace the turn signal switch. They can be found if you search for "steering column repair" or "tilt wheel repair". Some have diagrams. "Just pull it out" or "unscrew it" did not work for me either. I was trying to get to the 4 torx bolts on a tilt and was stopped at the "just pull it out" for the turn signal lever. Maybe someones does, mine does not.
