Cupholder Help!

I got a set of cup holders for my '88 Firebird, and after the power window conversion i'm stuck staring at my doors trying to figure out what hole pattern these cup holders use. I've sat for about an hour or so reading past threads and i've read that they fit in the older birds too, yet i can't find anything, and the only spot that resembles good positioning needs 2 holes to be drilled for the bottom two and the 3rd upper hole is blocked by the regulator. I guess what i'm asking if someone could possibly take a picture from underneath the door panels for me and arrow out the holes that are needed. And if i need to figure out a custom set-up (if the doors had special provisions for them in '90-'92) then anyone figure anything out??? Thanks for any help!

Yes the newer doors have 3 square holes that a plastic plug (similar to those used to install license plates) goes into. Your doors won't have the holes, so you'll need to hold them in place and punch a hole with an awl all the way through your interior panel, then drill holes and screw them in place.

Re: Cupholder Help!

I have mine off but I just sent my door panel with the cup holder (I only have drivers side but it's the same) out to be recovered to math my new recovered seats so I can't help you with pics. To be honest I just set the holder low enough for those litre' cups and I drilled three holes and mounted it to my door panel. This is the first i heard there may be door hole but I have a camaro so who knows. Any way just putting holes in the door panel was strong enough.

Re: Cupholder Help!

Yea naw i'm cofortable just putting in holes, as far as i know only firebirds got these (assuming since 90-92 has special square holes i'm guessing the firebird doors are diff from same year maro's) but i was just hoping someone can take a shot of thier door, not the door panel, so that i can see in relation to the power window motors their square holes were so that i can get a feel for where i need to look. Thanks though!
