Customizing Door Panels
I have a question for anyone who has made their own door panels.... On the back there are plastic pins that actually hold the door panel onto the door... For those of you who have made custom door panels and used wood or metal to replace the fiberboard that was used on the original door panel, how did you clip it to the door?? Were you able to mount those plastic pins on the new panel or did you fabricate something new?
Thanks in advance!!

In most cases third gen or not the original door moulding is kept and just added on to so you dont have to deal with that.

Re: Customizing Door Panels
I'm not sure I'm following you here... The problem is my door panels are SHOT! I'm going to take the originals and use them as the template to make new panels out of something along the lines of 1/8th inch plywood... I just don't know how I'm going to be able to attach them to the door because if I'm not mistaken the plastic pins that are on the back of the panel that hold the panel onto the door on the bottom and sides are connected with some other plastic pieces and I'm not too sure that those pieces would be swappable to the new panels...

one of the first shops i went too attached the pannels using wood screws... not good!
my new abs door pannels were built reuising the factory christmas trees.

Re: Customizing Door Panels
the plastic "pins" are swapable. i made some aluminum door panels and drillid holes the used the plastic pins to hold them to the door. they can be tricky to uninstall and reinstall but by twisting and wiggling them its possible. hope that answers your question
