Fuel Gauge
My fuel gauge isnt working in my 89 Firebird Formula v8 350 tpi. It show that its always way above full. Anyone know what it might be? My dad said that it might be the float in the tank. I just wanna make sure its not something else.

Re: Fuel Gauge
The problem could be the Gauge itself, the Printed Circuit on the back of the cluster, or the wiring itself. IIRC the gas gauge will shoot all the way to the top if it losses Power or Ground.

Re: Fuel Gauge
To check the back of the gauge does require me to take out the dash board right? And once I see the back how do I kow if its no good?

Re: Fuel Gauge
I am having the same problem with my Camaro, but it always shows empty. I know it is not the gas gauge because I have changed it when I changed my gauge cluster. I am thinking it is the sending unit. You may want to look into that as well. Just make sure its nothing else before you go buy a sending unit ($250
).
