Heater just sucks....

My car's heater is horrible. On a cold start it takes 15 minutes before I feel any warm air coming through, and once it starts it is weak. Any other car I ride in if you turn the heater on full blast for just a few minutes it becomes completely unbearable real fast. I can drive around in my thirdgen with the heater on high all day long and while the car does eventually get comfortable on a cold day, it takes forever and is certainly not hot. A drive any less than 25 minutes I can easily see myself not even noticing the heater is on.

Car has 195* t-stat that is new, and operates consistently at a comfortable 190* (CTS reading).

Any tricks to tune up my heater system?

Try back flushing the heater core, might have some partial blockage. Are the heater hoses getting hot? Maybe you're heater valve or the vacuum tubing is faulty? The vacuum switch on my temp. selector (on the HVAC control panel) went bad and my heater didn't work at all.

Re: Heater just sucks....

Could be a dieing blower motor, not pushing enough air passed the heater core. Or a blockage in your vents.

Re: Heater just sucks....

If "weak" means that the air isn't blowing hard, but is hot, then check the blower motor. If "weak" means that the air isn't hot, then the problem lies elsewhere. Check the hoses at the firewall. It could well be that the core is blocked as TA mentions.

I would definitely say its more of a problem with the blower motor. High on my car is more like medium - low on other cars.

AC Delete cars only have 3 speeds on the blower motor right?
