can't get racing seats at this time , but i can get any original equipment seats fo $20 a piece? i was thinking i like the probe seats.

 

4th gen seats are a DIRECT bolt in.

Other models of seats, can need mounting tracks modified, or new pieces to adapt the new seats, to your tracks.

 

4th gen seats look almost the same, so I dont see the point in that swap..other than they might be in better shape.

Someone on NastyZ28 Put the GTO seats in his second gen..now that looks good.

4th gen has far better upper back support. Not perfect but far better then 3rd gens.

4th gen. seats look completely different then 3rd. gen. and are much more comfortable. I wish I had them in mine, but there's NO WAY your going to get them or probably any other seat for $20 a piece.

 

Never say never... A few weeks ago I picked up 4 bucket seats for $20 from an ad on Craigs list. Included a 4th gen TA passenger seat, dark gray cloth, in excellent condition minus the tracks. Guy just wanted them out of his way. Now just need to find a drivers side.

But I do agree, you typically will not find any seats in halfway decent condition for $20 apiece.

 

not much on looks, but cavalier/sunbird seats bolt right to our tracks, and are sooooo comfortable.

 

i think third gen seats are comfortable. Most comfortable out of all my cars and I got a luxury and a corvette!

 

I don't know if comfort is what the poster is looking for, but all I know is that once I put the PMD seats in mine, it beat any other seat I ever had in the comfort area. PMD's are like sitting on clouds (almost). Love 'em

 

Many GM car seats will interchange, you just need to swap your tracks onto them. I can't say that 100% of all car seats will, but there are tons that will. Cavalier, sunfire, grand am, etc. As long as they are bucket seats and roughly the same size, chances are that they will swap. Obviously some won't, if you look at the front bucket seats in a caprice or buick or some other giant grandma car, they're huge, they probably wouldn't even fit between the door and center console. I got a pair of "GTA" seats from a mid-80s grand am GT at the junkyard, they were exactly the same as the seats that came in GTAs, in the same tan cloth even. The car looked just like this one:

 

I have seats off a mid 80's Dodge Conquest. Very nice seats, adjustable lumbar and bolsters! I just swapped the tracks...

 

The conquest is a mitsubishi.

Seats are typicaly proivided by outside manufacturers so many makes use the same frames so dont limit your search to GM's or domestic cars.

I have heard supras use the same basic seat frames as F bodies so I'll be checking out a clean lexus SC 300 with black leather next weekend at the local U pullit.

I would like to try the seats from a 2nd gen mazda mx6. I have owned one for years and it has to be one of the most comfortable and suppoertve seats I have ever driven in.

But for serious holding power nothing I have ridden in can compare to R32 skyline GT-R seats. Kinda hard to find but they simply will not let you go if you like to take corners quickly. Almost as comfortable as the mazda seats too.

 

Too bad my suburban's seats won't fit. That thing is a livingroom on wheels

 

you know just read this thread a little earlier and then found a set of 4th gen seats on craigslist for 50 bucks for the whole set...

 

do u guys no if the jegs hard plastic race seats fit in our cars and if they do how much head room u got
