Re: pmd seats

Yes the PMD seats were only available on the 82 Trans Ams, They are pretty rare if they are in good condition.....if the parts car is a 82 trans am, theres a chance there are some pretty rare parts on it...where are you located? and how much are you getting the car for?

Re: pmd seats

The PMD seats are the uplevel luxury "Viscount" interior seats on '82 Firebirds. They were available as an option in Base and Trans Am and standard on Firebird S/E. J2000 Sunbird and Grand Prix also had the PMD seat option in '82. On the Firebird they came in cloth or vinyl/leather seating surfaces.

Re: pmd seats

I think one of the aftermarket guys (classic industries?) sells factory replacement covers. ie. make it good as new.
They are renowned for being the most comfortable seats available in these cars. I agree, and one day when i'm swimming in cash i'm going to get mine recovered.

Re: pmd seats

I got my set from a grand prix, though the shape is the same, the seweing / pattern is a tad different than that used on the firebirds... also, the firebirds have a squre back that I see falling off and peeling on many cars... the ones on the grand prix is a hard back that doesn't come off... & yes, they do sell kits, but I don't think it will fit the grand prix cuz of the different back... I'm having mine redone locally...

Mine has no PMD badging...

Re: pmd seats

If the car has the 82 TA fenders with vents, rear bumper, round shift **** and 15" turbo cast wheels, grab those parts and head over to ebay... trade them for cash then supercharger Even the seats go for a pretty penny...

The PMD stands for Pontiac Motor Division.

Re: pmd seats

I had PMD's in my 82, I bought the repoduction covers from Hawks. Top notch quality and they are made to order, so you can't beat that.
