Broken Seat belt?

Alright this may sound dumb but i think my seat belt is broken. in all of the other cars i have driven when you yank the belt with your hand it stops. When i was having the trans fixed i asked the dealership to look at it because i thought for sure it was broken. They said it was fine and that the only way to make it work was to hit the brakes. Is this true in our cars?? Should i go 20 down the road slam the brakes and pray my face doesnt become one with the wheel?

Re: Broken Seat belt?

There is a pendulum type gripper that swings and grabs the belt when the brakes are applied. I took mine apart cuz I'm an idiot.

Re: Broken Seat belt?

I thought the same thing, Nater.
That is..until I had to hit the breaks hard to avoid hitting a dog.

Turns out they work after all
