Just wondering if anyone has them in their car and what has to be done to install them. What is required to remove old seatbelts and install a 5 point harness?

That looks like you don't have a roll bar to hook it up to. How did you mount it behind the seat? I always thought you needed a bar running behind them.

 

I was almost positive i was going to do the same in mine. But... you need to install a roll cage, which render your back seats useless. Ive also seen people just connect a beam across the back of the seats and weld it onto the frame or something. But, if your going to do it, just go with a roll cage.

Just remember you want to be pulled back... not down... you don't want to compress your spine. There are no quick build jobs to make this work... it might work.. but it also might make you dead! do it right!

step 1: install 6 point roll bar
step 2: install 5 point harnesses.


if you're not doing step 1, then it's not safe.

 

I designed a set of hoops that mount into T-slots and are secured to the floor via sub frame connectors. I have them designed such that they can slide when the seat needs to be moved and lock up when loaded. Kinda sorta the same whay your shoulder straps work in a standard restrain system. I have design software that allows me to do force and stress analysis and I try not to show pictures of the actual restrain set up because I am in the process of getting it patented.
