I jsut received the ABS material I ordered to make some replica auto shift plates. The texture is a very close match to the original. I found a couple plastic places that can cut them to size and cut in the windows.I'm going to try to add the edge look and the line across the front but I am not going to cut the hole for the ashtray and install an ashtray. Looking for ideas:

1) What to do with the ashtray area (storage pocket, ipod holder, leave it flat, etc.)

2) The plastics places can engrave anything on the plastic. I wasn't planning on doing the "automatic overdrive" thing....looking for ideas on what, if anything, to engrave there. Maybe "Camaro" in the original script style font?

If this works out I'll post them here for reasonable prices and look into making more. Please help me with good ideas. Thanks!

That spot would also be great to leave flat, somebody might want to mount switches or something in that area.

(2) You could just leave it blank, but I kinda like the "Camaro" idea.

 

I have always wanted to do something different in this area i dont like what gm did with it. I think a CAMARO in place of the ash tray or where the automatic overdrive was and some kind of storage maybe for cds or something.

'Cause that's what my ashtray is full of, loose change.

 

I would make it an Ipod dock, or something like that, make it electronics friendly...or some flip top switches for something.

 

i would use it for a slanted guage pod similar to the first gens just cuz i've always like that look
