i have an 85 iroc and ive been working on the interior lately and one thing that really bothers me is the shifter (automatic). its the giant round 8 ball type, and id love to just replace it with a newer style rather than rewrapping it in leather cuz you know, you can spiff up a turd all you want but at the end of the day its still a turd. i found a complete assembly from a 99 online, good condition, and i was wondering would it bolt right into the stock 85 console? or could i just switch the shafts? i know from searching that you cant just switch the tops since they are held on different, but is there any quick and easy way to make this work? thanks for any help
