Pilot Steering wheel hub not seating?

I tried to install the hub #SW-900 on my 88 camaro steering column but it doesnt seem to slide on the splines to well or its getting stuck on the smooth lined part after the splines. I mean I could mash it on and I think its on the splines and not damaging them at all it just seems real tight.

Anyone else have this problem? If I leave it as far as it kinda goes you can see the lock ring for the steering wheel lock. About a 1/3 inch gap between the plactic round Pilot hub cover and the actual steerin column

Re: Pilot Steering wheel hub not seating?

are you putting a grant wheel on?
if so the is a small spacer like washer that go on the hub first, if you do not have this when you tighten down the wheel it will bind and be hard to turn.

i have no idea if this is the prob you are having from what you tried to explain but this happens to a lot of first time installs.
