Indoor/outdoor carpet on the dash...

I remember my dad having this on his old truck as a temporary fix that turned into permanent until he sold it. Yes it could be considered trashy, but I always thought it looked unique and I mean shoot it worked for a cheap price. I am thinking about making this a project on my RS since I don't have the money right now or in the intimidate future to replace the dash or even get a dash pad. I figured I would get opinions on the matter and throw a cheap alternative out to some of the community out here.

Lets hear it folk what do you think

The only way I think you could pull off the indoor/outdoor carpet dash look is if you also had the rebel flag headliner, mud tires, and a cd of "dueling banjos".....

LOL! Seriously, you could just buy a dashmat. Or recover the dashpad in vinyl.

Re: Indoor/outdoor carpet on the dash...

With me being broke I might be able to stitch a old Rebel flag headliner and when the new cd player goes it I might just throw in a little dueling banjos lmao as far as everything else I may not be able to swing

I would like to fill in the cracks and have even searched and read the write up on here about it but I am still a little intimidated by it... I just picked up the car last Sunday and I have such a huge to do list on it that I am just trying to figure out some CHEAP and EASY fixes right now or atleast temporary. As opposed to replace the torn and dry rotted sun visor that little pieces blow in my eyes going do the road I just got a cd holder from Walmart and put over it to do for now, But the CD player don't work so I feel like a jackass hahaha. Plus I got the back passenger side of my GFX's cracked tonight so that will set me back a little more and add to the to do list . I might l

You should hook up with the guy who did the spare gas can in the engine compartment mod and trade ideas.

Try filling in the cracks with some bondo or fiberglass resin then sanding and painting. Worst case scenario, if it doesn't turn out great, you have some experience and you can still cover it up with some carpet if you want. Covering it with some vinyl is cheap too and looks much nicer.
