I have a 85 berlinetta with the digital dash and iv owned it for like 5 years and iv never had the dash work...
the people i got the car from did a carb motor swap.
will the digital dash work with a carb motor?? i wouldnt think it would affect it couse the only thing that run it is the wires that got to the distributor and the wires that got to the tranny right??
iv looked at the ecu that runs it in the dash for burnt cercits and it looked fine.
what els is there that i can check that might be making it not work??
the everything but the tach and speedo work btw..
oh and can i swap to a t5 and still get the speedo to work??

 

The circuit boards inside the cluster are fried........ You will need to send it out for repair or buy a replcaement for it. Be sure that you get one from a car with the same motor as your car ( Cluster is specicif to a V6 or V8 ) you can plug a V6 dash into a V8 Berlinetta - but the tach will be incorrect. The ECM doesn't control the cluster in any way. The Light Module only controls the dash cluster when the Head/Park lights are turned on.

Berlinetta V8's only came with Carbs from the factory,..... V6's had Carbs or MPFI injection. And Yes; You can swap a T5 into the car - you will simply need to install an electric T5 Speedo sensor ( 84 to 86 Berlinetta and 86-89? Firebird ) because the auto speedo sensor is different.
