Seat Cushion Interchangeability
Hey all,
This might be a stupid question, but here goes. Has anyone swapped seat cushions on the driver/passenger seats? My driver seat bolster has some nasty tears and it seems that most drivers seats have the same problem. I was thinking I could get a passenger seat in good condition and use the cushions/covers on the drivers side. I have the deluxe tweed style seat covers and they both have the word 'Camaro' on the same side. Just a thought and any input is appreciated!

I'm not sure about the interchangeability but I imagine it wouldn't be too hard if its just the cushions and not the hardware...

Re: Seat Cushion Interchangeability
yes this is 100% possible. i've done it to the seats that i'm currently recovering. but only the foam not the frame in the seat back. and the foam and frame in the seat bottoms are interchangable.

Re: Seat Cushion Interchangeability
The only drawback is that the holes on the passenger side fabric ( from the passenger seat reclining mechanism ) will be some-what visible when it's mounted on the drivers side. The holes are mostly blocked by the center console - but they do show. This isn't an issue for the later style seats as the seat recliner was mounted under the fabric.
Also: to switch sides from pass to driver with a front seat "bottom",...... the pivit studs' mounting Nut must be removed from the console side of the frame and re-installed on the opposite side. ( so the pivot pin is relocated & it's right next to the center console again. )

Re: Seat Cushion Interchangeability
Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate it. While it may not be perfect, its way better than what I have at this point. Least I can look pretty good and fix them a 100% when I find a better set!
