I was just curious if any of you have used the SEM paint to paint your inner plastics? I have grey interior and want it Knight Rider black...just curious if you all had good luck with SEM?
Oh yeah, and where to get it locally i cannot find it? I live in Polk County FL area.

Re: SEM PAINT FOR INTERIOR PLASTICS?
i wanted just wat you wanted. i did all my plasitc panels over a yr ago in the summertime. i let the paint bake in the sun.
i used sem products all the way
so far nothing has peeled off but... you got do many many steps to make sure you only have to paint these things once
i steam cleaned the panels one by one. washed them with soap
i used 400 grit sand paper and gently scuffed the panels so paint has fresh plastic groves to bite onto
used automotive alchohol cleaner with lint free micro fiber rags to do a final clean wipe of the panels
used 2 coats of promoter to help the paint stick then painted the panels jet black.
came out very nice.
take your time find a nice sunny day to do it outside.
and do one panel at a time, cannot rush this
goodluck

Bobby_80s is giving very good advice! The prep work is sooo important! While I didn't go as far as he did, I scrubbed everything well with a degreasing soap and warm water using a nylon bristle brush. I used VHT plastic paint in black and it turned out very well... it's a very good match to the original 3rd gen black. I also used their vinyl dye that comes in an aresol can for the firebird deluxe "gta" door panels and it has held up well for several years now, even on the rubber-like interior door handles!

Re: SEM PAINT FOR INTERIOR PLASTICS?
here is a link to my thread about dying my door panels:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...ht=door+panels
And here are some of the plastic pieces that I've repainted:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...ght=rings+trim
The door sills had the paint scrape off in some spots due to my doors sagging. The guage trim has held up very well for a couple years with no problems. I also suggest that you let them sit for a couple days after painting before doing any serious handling or installation. They will also have some "dust" to wipe off. I wiped mine with a damp rag and got a lot of black dust off of them before installing.

One note, though...all the plastics in KITT were tan. Just the vinyl and console are black.

Re: SEM PAINT FOR INTERIOR PLASTICS?
I just used SEM Landau black (Item# 15013) to respray my A-pillar trim piece. This black matches stock color really well. I just washed trim piece with simple green and then sprayed a couple coats on. Was around $13 for a can at Sherwin Williams Automotive store.
