Help removing dash
I have a 1992 camaro z28 and am looking at the easiest way to remove the dashboard... Can it be removed as one entire assembly or do I have to get it out in pieces?
So far I took off the top pad, and the lower panels under the driver and passenger sides and the one panel just under the steering wheel. I am worried about taking everything apart cause its gonna be a pain to piece it all back together..
Any help would be great. for those wondering why I am taking it all off because of a complete rebuild, changing from auto to manual, LT1 harness, and dynomat entire car, etc...
Thanks

Re: Help removing dash
It can be removed in one piece - sort of.
remove the cluster, radio, and a/c heater controls
With the pad removed you should see the bolts attaching the dash to the firewall
There are two 10mm headed bolts on the outside of the lower corners of the dash
There should also be a center support as well
Drop the column, make sure to take airbag precautions - if equipped
Remove all the bolts - leaving the top ones for last
Here is the sort of
THE WIRING !!
Pull the dash away from the firewall and begin to undo all the plastic loom holders and disconnect any switches and stuff
That is about as one piece as it gets
Hint: You have to remove the dash to change the heater core
If you are retaining the 3rd gen heater box - change it at this time
Hope this helps, good luck with your project!

Re: Help removing dash
About the heater core swap. You DO NOT have to remove the dash... You remove the dash underpaneling, and with some extentions and u joints, you can gain access to all the bolts that hold the plastic housing on. I swapped my heater core out in less than 15 minutes, and that was the first time I had ever attempted it on a third gen.
