91 bird taking out the air bag?

91 bird taking out the air bag?

I want to remove the air bag steering wheel from my 91 bird, can i do this and put a grant wheel on that column or can i swap in one of my old style steering column from a camaro? thanks

yes u can remove it and put a grant wheel on it...i will be doing this very soon to my car also. Do a search...there are loads of posts about doing this. there are also a plethora of pictures out there of the before and after.

Yes you can do it. I did the very thing to my GTA. You'll have to remove the airbag and the yellow airbag wiring inside the column. Don't forget to remove the bulb behind the airbag light in the dash or it will stay on all the time.

Yeah, I took the ugly and peeling airbag wheel off my '91 and replaced it with a factory leather-wrapped one from an '85 T/A. Much better materials, feel, and look (in my opinion) than any wheel Grant makes, plus it was only $38 on eBay, in great shape, and I didn't need an adaptor kit since it was a GM wheel. Like the other guys say though, don't forget to take the bulb out of the dash!

my light is on already why is that? and i prefer the grant i have a couple stock ones from older camaros, but i am going to buy a grant.

your light could be on if the wire was disconnected. Many unscrupulous aftermarket security alarms/remote starter installers disconnect the wire and leave it disconnected so that any issues with the devices they are installing dont cause it to go off when it's not supposed to. At least that's what happened with my car (previous owners ).
